KKU Scholarship – ASEAN-GMS
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Khon Kaen University (KKU) invites nationals of ASEAN and GMS countries to apply for the KKU Scholarship for ASEAN and GMS Countries’ Personnel of 2nd semester of Academic Year 2020.
1-Eligibility Criteria
1.1 Be nationals of ASEAN or GMS countries (including Yunnan and Guangxi of China)
1.2 The applicant must not be over 40 years of age on the date of application.
1.3 Hold a bachelor’s degree if applying for a master level degree and if applying for a doctoral level degree, both bachelor and master’s degrees are required.
1.4 Have a good English proficiency.
1.5 Be of good health; physically and mentally.
1.6 Fulfill all the requirements as per those who are eligible to study in the particular curriculum of Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Science and International College Khon Kaen University.
2-Durationofscholarship
2.1 Master’s degree: 2 years
2.2 Doctoral degree: 3 years
3-Scholarshipbenefits
3.1 Scholarship type 1:
- Tuition fee (not exceeding 280,000 baht per year and amount paid as actual expenses)
- Accommodation and living allowance ( covering accommodation and living expenses to 96,000 baht per year)
- Research or thesis allowance ( covering research/ thesis costs to 18,000 baht per year)
- Travel expense*
- VISA extension (VISA extension cost not exceeding 6,000 baht, granted for the first time the extension is issued within Thailand, and for one time only
3.2 Scholarship type 2:
3.2.1 Scholarship from KKU’s budget:
- Accommodation and living allowance (covering accommodation and living expenses to 96,000 baht per year)
- Travel expense*
- VISA extension (VISA extension cost not exceeding 6,000 baht, granted for the first time the extension is issued within Thailand, and for one time only.
3.2.2 Scholarship from an external organization’s budget:
- Tuition fee (amount paid as actual expenses)
- Research or thesis allowance ( covering the research/ thesis costs to 18,000 baht per year)
3.3 Scholarship type 3:
3.3.1 Scholarship from KKU’s budget:
- Accommodation and living allowance (covering accommodation and living expenses to 96,000 baht per year)
- Travel expense*
- VISA extension (VISA extension cost not exceeding 6,000 baht, granted for the first time the extension is issued within Thailand, and for one time only
3.3.2 Scholarship from Khon Kaen University Faculty’s budget:
- Tuition fee (amount paid as actual expenses)
- Research or thesis allowance ( covering research/ thesis costs to 18,000 baht per year)*Travel expense
A round-trip air ticket (economy class) from the designated capital city or principle city (excluding domestic airfare both in Thailand and ASEAN or GMS countries), or transportation for a recipient from Lao PDR, Cambodia, Vietnam or Myanmar covering transportation to an amount of 5,000 baht (lump sum).Note:
1. The scholarship excludes health and accident insurance. The scholarship grantee should be responsible for this matter themselves. KKU has a regulation that all international students need to hold valid health insurance during the period of their study
4-Documentsrequiredfor application
All documents are required to be in English language only:
4.1 Application form with photo.
4.2 Copy ( or copies) of academic transcripts. If applying for a master’ s degree, the official academic transcript of the undergraduate degree is required. If applying for a doctoral degree, the official academic transcripts of both the undergraduate and master’ s degree are required.
4.3 Copy ( or copies) of the degree certificate/ s issued by applicant’ s institution of graduation.
4.4 Copy of English proficiency test results issued by a language testing center from January 31, 2019 onward; details can be found at:https://gs.kku.ac.th/home/index.php/admission-english/admission-how-to-apply.html
Please note that
The master’s degree applicants without English proficiency test results are welcome but KKU will give priority to applicants who have English proficiency test results. KKU will not consider a result which was a part of the applicant’s studies. These English proficiency test results are required for the consideration of the scholarship application only. The scholarship recipient may need to meet further English language requirements before graduating from KKU.
4.5 Two letters of recommendation written by senior staff of the applicant’s current working institution or from a lecturer/advisor of a previous institution from which the applicant graduated ( Form:KKU-Scholar II).
4.6 Certified copy of passport or English translation of birth certificate orEnglish translation of national identification card.
4.7 Physical examination certificate/ medical certificate ( only hospital certificates accepted) dated from April 9, 2020 onward (Form: KKU-Scholar III).
4.8 A criminal clearance testimonial from the home country of the applicant issued in English by an authorized official organization, or a version translated into English with an original copy of the version in the domestic language.
4.9 If the applicant is receiving any other financial support by another organization, either international or domestic, the applicant must
provide copies of the grant/scholarship where the amount and type of
financial support received is clearly stated.
4.10 A copy of the MOU between the applicant’s home institute/university and KKU (only for those applicants who come from a university that
has an MOU with KKU).
4.11 Copy (or copies) of professional training certificates or any document
to improve your application (if any).
Noted:
- Article 4.1-4.8 are requiring documents.
- All copies require the applicant’s signature on every page to certify thatit’s a true copy
5-How to apply
The application form and all relevant documents can be found at the International Affairs Division website at http://iad.kku.ac.th under the topic ‘scholarship’.
5.1 Complete the online application form, print out and sign.
5.2 Download and complete the form: KKU-Scholar II and KKU-Scholar III.
5.3 Scan the application form together with KKU-Scholar II, KKU-Scholar III and all relevant documents as a single file (.pdf file) then upload to the system.
Noted:
1. The documents must be in order from number 4.1 – 4.11 and KKU may reject applications which do not follow this instruction
6-Rulesand Considerations for the Selection Process
6.1 All applicants need to apply online at http://iad.kku.ac.th.
6.2 Applicants who are applying for a partial scholarship will receive priority over those who are applying for a full scholarship.
6.3 In case the applicant fails to complete the application form, especially when he or she is receiving monetary or scholarship support from another source and has not informed the Committee, the Committee reserves the right to cancel the application. In the case where unrevealed information is detected at a later stage, the University will revise the decision and the scholarship may be subject to cancellation.
7-Application Deadline:
The application and all relevant documents must be submitted no later than October 9, 2020 by 04.00 p.m. Thailand local time. Late submissions or incomplete applications will not be considered.
